Did you know our words are blessings or curses? The shocking news is that we
speak words without paying attention to the repercussions.
There is a way to correct or discuss in love: Jesus is our example. With our
words, we continually prophecy (good or evil) over our lives and also
the lives of others.
In Romans 4:17 God calls those things that do not yet exist as though they do.
God called Abraham the “Father of many nations” before his wife was
pregnant and she was quite old at the time (around 100 years old). God
was calling the future into being by speaking out what was to come.
He has given us the same right! Actually “Our future is in our words.”
That is Powerful!
Knowing this is half the battle; doing it is the other, not always easy, half.
Retraining our minds, wills, and emotions takes time and patience.
DECLARATION:
I am part of God’s army, filled with the love and strength of the Lord; I walk in
God’s favor; I am full of joy and peace. I find the best in every situation;
my God-given destiny is being fulfilled daily. Thank You, Holy Spirit,
for putting a guard at my mouth; the words I say glorify the Lord and pave
out my future.
By saying these declarations out loud, we are operating in Romans 4:17. The
atmosphere will change all around us and in us. God’s word is powerful and
when spoken out, God sees that it is accomplished.
My word that goes out from my mouth shall not return to me empty but it
shall accomplish that which I purpose and shall succeed in the thing for which
I sent it. Isaiah 55:11 Gentle words bring life and health; deceitful, harsh words
crush the spirit. Proverbs 15:4 Kind and tender words heal and help;
cutting (negative, wrong) words can wound for life. Proverbs 15:4.
We may “know” this BUT I guarantee we do not fully understand the full meaning
of our everyday words. We say most words without giving a thought to the damage
we are doing because we speak what’s on our minds and what’s in our hearts.
Realizing what we say helps us change our speech to words that are healing
and helpful. This is called being “aware” and we have to work on this continually.
Remember, what’s in our hearts will eventually come pouring out of our mouths –
good or bad. The answer is to replace the negative with positive, better yet say
it with God’s Word – the only words that are powerful enough to heal and change.
This will require a lot of purposeful work but the results will be worthwhile
for us and others.
STORY:
When my husband Jerry and I first heard about the power of our words and also
the power of two “agreeing” on something, we began helping each other out by
saying, “Do you want me to agree with you on that?” Meaning if we both agreed
on something negative, it would happen, and also if we both
agreed on something positive it would happen.
Plus, we “agreed” to make it more like a game and NOT get upset with each other. |
That can be a test sometimes! Ha… The scripture is in Matthew 18:19 If two of
you on earth agree on anything it will happen. The Message Bible says
it this way: A yes, positive words (God’s Words), on earth is a yes in heaven;
a no, negative words (Satan’s words), on earth is a no in Heaven…
When two of you get together on anything at all and make a prayer of it, your
Father in Heaven goes into action!
