Remember to get some paper and pen to write names.
Then you can tear it up so that no one else can see them. This
is between you and Jesus so go slowly and let Him speak to you.
My list to forgive:
(Living or deceased)
Jesus, I willingly choose to relinquish: (write each name down)
Parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles,
cousins, teachers, doctors, preachers, priests, bosses, fellow workers,
neighbors, sales clerks, etc.
This may help trigger more memories:
I forgive those who treated me unfairly, embarrassed me, insulted me,
laughed at me, lied to me, ignored me, joked about me, judged me.
I truly from my heart forgive them.
I forgive my pastor, priest, and church for not making me feel part of the
church, for not making clear what was right and wrong, for boring
sermons, and for not making salvation relevant and understandable.
I forgive completely with Love.
I saved the hardest for last:
I forgive myself! Holy Spirit, I need Your help in this exercise. I have so many
painted pictures in my mind of things I’ve done wrong: hurtful things I’ve
said, things I wish I would have said, for lying, cheating, being lazy, not
applying myself, being too hard on myself, self-bitterness, self-hatred, for
just not loving myself.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, I confess and repent for allowing
unforgiveness in my life. I repent for all the grudges and hatred held
in my family’s generations. In the Name of Jesus and by the power
of His blood, I cancel all of Satan’s authority over me. I loose angels to
surround and protect me in Jesus’ Name. Thank You, Jesus, I am free
of the evil of unforgiveness.
Holy Spirit, I ask You to my heal my heart. Create new thought patterns
in my mind – I choose for my thoughts to line up with God’s Word. Fill me
with Your light, hope, love, joy, and peace! Give me a picture of how
Father God sees me. I know He sees me as righteous through the
blood of Jesus. Amen and Amen
Some hurts are deeper than others so just keep going to Jesus – keep giving
that person or event to Him and choose to forgive even if it takes longer
to take effect. This is important for your spirit and soul.
God gets blamed for many things; sometimes we forget that we have an enemy.
John 10:10 The thief (enemy) comes ONLY to steal, kill, and destroy;
Jesus came so that we may have life, and have it to the full (more abundant).
So yes, we need to ask our Father to forgive us for accusing Him of
things we can’t explain. Remember, He is for us; He covers us with
His love – the 91st Psalms says He covers us with His feathers and
under His wings we will find refuge/shelter. That picture should
make us feel very safe and protected. Read the 91st Psalm
and read it often.
(try different translations)
DECLARATION:
I am set apart as a holy vessel for God’s plans and purposes. He is my
refuge and my place of safety. I am rescued from every trap the
enemy has set. I am shielded/sheltered with
God’s wings; His promises are my armor.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, please forgive me for blaming You. I know You love
me and only want the best for me. You are Elohim – The All- Powerful One.
You are Immanuel – God with us. I will praise You all the days of my
life! Amen and Amen
When you get to this point, you will be feeling lighter and freer. If not,
go back over your list and ask Holy Spirit to bring to your mind what/
who you have missed. This may take a few times because it’s
taken a lifetime to create.
Keep going, be determined to set yourself free!
