When we consciously or unconsciously stray from God’s path,
we can repent (turn around and go
the opposite way) OR we can continue in sin. Holy Spirit will nudge
and warn us but never push us into living the right way. He is
a Gentleman.
Desiring to change is only the beginning of the battle. Holy Spirit
will gently guide us to where we need to change. The daily
battle is making a different choice today than we did
yesterday. Our eyes and ears will be opened as we begin to
recognize old habits, like gossiping, criticizing, judging, etc…
He will help us become “aware” of our words, and He will
help us stop or change them before they come
out of our mouths.
NOTE:
It’s a very interesting feeling to be in the middle of saying something
and the next word gets hung up in your mouth – the decision to
continue is still up to you. The times this has happened to me I was so
grateful that I “held my tongue.” The outcome would not have been
good if I would have followed my old habits. It was a
split-second decision.
Lord put a guard at my mouth. Psalms 141:3.
The Living Bible says, Help me Lord, to keep my mouth shut and
my lips sealed. Amen and Amen
DECLARE:
I declare that the words coming out of my mouth are uplifting
and encouraging. I take every opportunity to plant God’s love and
His word. I choose to remain on God’s path with the help of
Holy Spirit. My old sins are washed away and God sees me through
the blood of His Son – I am righteous in His sight.
PRAYER:
Jesus, thank You for forgiving me as I repent of past and present
sins. Give me Your insight to see what’s happening around me and
in me and the wisdom to call on Holy Spirit for help.
Holy Spirit, shine a light on my heart; so that when I stray, I
will quickly repent and get back on God’s path. I love how You
gently and lovingly convict without condemnation. I choose to
walk with Jesus all the days of my life! Amen and Amen
God demands that we, with the help of Holy Spirit, walk in His ways.
Jesus said in John 14:15 If you (really) love Me, you will keep my commands.
Ephesians 5:1 Therefore become imitators of God
(copy Him and follow His example) as beloved children.
I would say imitating God is a small price to pay to spend eternity in heaven.
Notice I did not say “easy!” We have to retrain ourselves (our old nature) but
we have the Helper who is always ready to assist.
John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter
(Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener) that He may remain
with you forever. Holy Spirit is also known as the Spirit of Truth and He lives in us!
What an Amazing Gift Jesus left for those who choose to follow Him.
In John 5:19, Jesus tells us He only does (and says) what His Father does (and says).
PRAYER:
Father, I come to you in the Name of Your precious Son, Jesus. My heart’s desire is to
be like Jesus – to love like Him, talk like Him, and act like Him. Thank You for giving
me the courage to stay on His path and to share Jesus and His love.
Amen and Amen
