Can we really Know? Well, I think so –
Let’s go back in time and look at King Saul. He was Israel’s first
king because the people insisted they wanted to be like other
nations and have a king to rule over them.
God wanted to be their king, but the people insisted on being
able to see and touch their king. Samuel, God’s prophet, clearly
explained the consequences to the people(1 Samuel 8:10).
Samuel prophesied to the people that king Saul:
1. Would take their family members and turn them into his
servants,
2. Their land he would give to his servants,
3. Their flocks he would take one-tenth of…
Then Samuel added, you will cry out to the Lord but He
will not answer (because this was NOT His will).
After Saul was king, he chose to do things his way even though
Sammuel, the prophet, was there to tell him what God wanted
him to do. Finally, Samuel rebukes Saul, telling him that his
kingdom won’t last because he refused to obey God.
God seeks a man after His own heart.
(1 Samuel 13:14)
Acts 13:22 God said: “I have found David, son of Jesse, a man after
My own heart; he will do ALL My will”
After Saul’s death, David was crowned the second king of Israel.
Was he perfect? Absolutely not! David was a murderer, a liar and he
also committed adultery BUT he repented and God forgave him.
We need to follow this pattern and forget and forgive the past of
others. God does NOT bring up our past – the enemy does.
Acts 3:19 Repent and turn back, so that your sins may be blotted
out!
So are we bigger than God, that we can keep bringing up
someone’s past that has been forgiven? God sets the example for us
to follow; let’s not be like king Saul!
2 Samuel 12:9-10 tells us that Nathan, God’s prophet, prophesied
to David: (Remember there are consequences to our sins and David
had a list of them but this is referring to Bathsheba and the sins
surrounding their affair) “therefore the sword shall never depart
from your house…” Here are some of the consequences of David’s
sins and they took place “in his house” as warned by God’s
prophet.
2 Samuel 13:1-14
1. David’s son, Amnon, assaults his virgin sister, Tamar.
2. Absalom, another son, became so angry that he killed Amnon,
fled and made plans to overthrow his father, King David.
3. When David heard of this overthrow, fear came over him and he
also fled
Side note: David was called a “Shepherd King” because he was
always concerned for his people and his country.
We want a president who:
1. Puts God first and then the country (people).
2. One who has a repentant heart;
3. Someone who believes that Jesus is Lord!
Jesus is ready to team up with our “New President” and bring
America back into His hands!
Psalm 51:1 tells of David’s confession to God:
“God give me mercy from Your fountain of forgiveness!
I know Your abundant love is enough to wash away my guilt.
Because Your compassion is so great, take away this shameful guilt
of sin. Forgive the full extent of my rebellious ways…”
Other scriptures concerning leadership and God’s heart:
God will NOT tolerate liars:
Proverbs 19:9 A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who
breathes lies will perish!
Proverbs 21:6 Wealth that comes from telling lies vanishes like a
mist and leads to death.
Psalms 101:7 He who works deceit shall not dwell in My house; he
who tells lies shall not continue in My presence.
Let’s look at Proverbs 6:16-19:
“There are 7 things the Lord, our God, Hates/Detest:
1. A proud look,
2. A lying tongue,
3. Hands that shed innocent blood,
4. A heart that devises wicked schemes,
5. Feet that run swiftly to evil,
6. A mouth that lies under oath,
7. A troublemaker…”
Here God comes right out and tells what to avoid in leadership or in
our own life.
Which candidate has spoken of the Lord and is following Jesus?
Hebrews 13:7 Remember those who rule over you, who have
proclaimed to you the word of God. Follow their faith…
How does God view Life?
In Jeremiah 1:5 God says,
“Before I formed you in the womb, I
knew you; and before you were born I set you apart…”
Jeremiah 29:11 God declares,
“I know the plans I have for you;
plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future filled with
hope.”
Wouldn’t you agree that He very much VALUES LIFE!

A Prayer for us to make a wise decision:
Father God, I come before You with a humble heart asking for Your
wisdom, revelation, knowledge, common sense, insight and
discernment. I choose to select the president of Your choice.
Someone who will put You first and our country second. Help me to
see these candidates through Your eyes.
In Jesus Name, I bind the enemy from blinding the minds of the
people (2 Corinthians 4:4) and I loose any blinders that are already
there. Thank You, Lord, for Your Truth being exposed!
Our country needs someone who will fight for what is right and
stand up against our enemies. One with integrity, ethical
leadership, compassion, vision and wisdom. One who has an ear to
hear You, Lord, and also hear the people.
I praise You Lord, in advance for this very person.
I pray this in Jesus Name, Amen
