There was a season in my life that seemed too long
I needed help and for my friends to be strong
With love they carried me in their hearts as I traveled
Through a place called “Wilderness”
Not all could fully understand and therefore on
this journey they did miss
I learned that
Healing takes time and there can be much pain
But with God’s grace and mercy
There’s is much more to gain
My crutches were created from faith and prayers
And knowing that my friends were there
Helped strengthen me each day
I knew that God was near
Eventhough His voice I sometimes couldn’t hear
In the Word I did read
Night and day
For the need
Was great
One day I caught a glimpse of a beautiful sight
A bright colorful butterfly in flight
Hope rose in my heart
And God gave me a picture that would never depart
But the time was yet to be
For God was preparing to set me free
In this season, I was like a caterpillar
On a tree
Eating leaves
Down in the grass
Spending time with God
Reflecting on His best
Peace came and soon
I retreated to a special place, a cocoon
Where only God and I could go
In this resting place, I spent time in prayer
So that I would know
God’s full and perfect will
It was there metamorphose took place
So that I could face
And conquer all the tomorrows
Though quite content it was time to leave
To become all I was meant to be
Leaning on God and eyes opened wide
I took my first flight as a Butterfly
And fly I did with Angels by my side
God commanding them to protect and guide
Love, Faith and Joy flow through me
Touching those who are in need
God smiles down on me each day
As He himself has kissed my very wings
And sent me on my way
